10 Minute Daily Routine
A simple 10-minute routine to help reduce stiffness and support mobility
Even short routines can make a meaningful difference. A simple 10-minute daily routine can help improve mobility, reduce stiffness, and support balance. This routine can be done at home and adjusted based on comfort level.
According to the Parkinson’s Foundation, regular short sessions of movement throughout the day can help improve flexibility and maintain mobility.
Minute 1–2: Gentle Warm-Up
Start with slow movements to loosen muscles:
- Shoulder rolls
- Neck turns
- Arm swings
- Ankle circles
Move slowly and comfortably.
Minute 3–5: Stretching
Focus on reducing stiffness:
- Reach arms overhead
- Gentle side stretches
- Hamstring stretch (seated)
- Calf stretch
Hold each stretch briefly without forcing movement.
Minute 6–8: Movement Exercises
Encourage larger, controlled movements:
- March in place
- Step side-to-side
- Practice big arm swings
- Slow walking across room
These exercises help improve coordination.
Minute 9–10: Balance and Posture
Finish with simple balance work:
- Stand tall and focus on posture
- Practice heel-to-toe stance (with support if needed)
- Slow weight shifting side-to-side
- Deep breathing
This helps improve stability and body awareness.
Why a 10-Minute Routine Helps
- Easy to stay consistent
- Improves mobility
- Reduces stiffness
- Supports balance
- Can be done anywhere
Consistency is more important than duration. Even a short daily routine can help maintain movement and improve overall function.
